The Lowy Institute, Australia’s leading international policy think tank, has two exciting Research Associate positions available as it embarks on a substantial new initiative expanding its work on the increasingly complex development challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region, encompassing the developing economies of Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and South Asia.
To support this new program of work, the Institute is recruiting multiple Research Associates with knowledge in one or more of the following key thematic areas: macroeconomics, growth and development; development finance; climate change; digital economy; globalisation; geoeconomics. An interest in other areas is advantageous.
About the positions
These positions are an excellent opportunity for early career researchers. Research Associates will work with the Institute’s lead economist as well as other senior researchers, participate in cutting-edge policy debates, and contribute to independent policy research, analysis, and commentary. They will also assist with the delivery of a program of events and outreach activities. Occasional travel for research, events, and stakeholder engagement will be involved.
About you
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, public policy, or a similar discipline. Candidates should have excellent research skills, including the ability to work with data as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and familiarity with Indo-Pacific countries and/or the desire to develop this is an advantage. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
