Under the responsibility of the head of emergency unit, you are part of an emergency team that can be deployed in the field, on emergency settings.
Emergency team members may be deployed to start new interventions on emergency settings or to support existing MdM country offices in implementing emergency response or preparedness activities.
The roving emergency coordinators have the critical responsibility to assess, design and implement the response to meet the immediate health-related needs of the affected population.
You may be requested to provide specific support or training for the teams in place. The missions are diverse in terms of contexts as well as types of responsibilities.
More specifically, your main responsibilities are:
Oversee emergency operations in field environements
• Ensure the opening of the mission by implementing MdM procedures and policies (procurement, cash etc.)
• Lead exploratory and fact-finding missions: context assessment, stakeholders mapping, strategy design in link with the emergency team members, etc.
• Lead, coordinate and oversee emergency interventions
• Oversee field finance, HR, supply chain and safety and security, ensuring adherence with policy and procedure and responsiveness to program needs
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local coordination structures and stakeholders
• Proactively identify, assess, monitor and implement measures to reduce or control risks that may impact field operations and program delivery
• Act as security focal point for area of operation, oversee implementation of security management plan and adherence to standard operating procedures
Contribute to reinforcing MdM emergency response at HQ level
• Provide specific support related to emergency preparedness and response for MdM country programme teams
• Contribute to developping operational tools for MdM emergency operations
• Contribute to the continuing development of the overall strategic approach in emergency health response
• Capitalize on experience and develop lessons learnt.

Working conditions bonus depending on the time spent on the field (198.18 euros gross per month maximum)

The duration of each mission assignment is a maximum of 3 months and will be followed by recuperation time.
Deployments can represent up to 80% of work time and non-field-based activities can be up to 20% of the work time.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector as head of mission and/or field coordinator
Experience in exploratory missions on emergency settings
Experience in risk analysis and access strategies development
Experience in managing donors funded programs and grants
Experience in representation with humanitarian actors, authorities and donors
Substantial experience in safety and security management, including in volatile context
Proven managerial experience
Excellent communication and listening skills
Ability to lead a team in a complex environment and make relevant decisions according to the context
Flexibility, proactivity, anticipation and adaptability
Excellent organizational skills
Diplomacy and networking skills
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
