Job purpose • Lead on developing and delivering CAFOD’s programme with Catholic teacher training colleges and secondary schools. • Contribute to the overall work of the Schools Team and education section.
Job scope The post holder works closely with the Schools Team.
Accountability The role reports to the Schools Team Leader.
Reporting The post holder reports to the Schools Team Leader and works closely with the Heads of Regions, Diocesan Staff, members of the Schools Teams and others in the Communities Department, to maximise the outreach work of CAFOD’s Schools Strategy according to the needs of each diocese.
Key Responsibilities • Lead on the promotion, development and delivery of secondary school INSET in line with the schools strategy. • Lead on the promotion, development and delivery of secondary INSET in Catholic teacher training colleges. • Work alongside the Secondary Materials Coordinator in the provision of support materials for the INSET programme. • In liaison with other school team members implement monitoring and evaluation procedures related to INSET programme. • Share learning and good practice with the team and other CAFOD staff who have a training role. • Administrate and organise the activities involved in the role, including correspondence, internal communication, logistics planning, electronic filing etc.
As a member of the schools team (s)he is expected to: - Actively support the work of all other aspects of the schools programme - Represent the Schools Team on internal task teams and working groups - Build relationships with other members of the Schools team, Education Section and Communities Department so as to contribute to strategic planning and effective delivery of our programmes. - Implement the monitoring and review procedures related to his/her area of work and support others in the review of their work.
As a member of the education section (s)he is expected to: - Contribute to the overall work of the Team and Section - Deal with own administration – correspondence, emails, filing and record keeping. - Attend meetings and any team building, planning workshops or away days as agreed. - Participate in divisional and CAFOD-wide meetings and briefings.
PERSON SPECIFICATION Highest priorities • Understands and actively supports CAFOD’s Vision, Mission and Values. • Actively supports a culture of mutual respect, trust & transparency where partnerships flourish. • UK recognised degree level qualification • Significant teaching experience in Catholic schools or colleges • Knowledge of UK curricula and teaching methods • Familiarity with the RE curriculum and with Catholic social teaching.
Very important • Has an understanding of the Catholic Church’s culture and structure and is able to work effectively within it. • Able to design and deliver participatory training for the formal school setting • Manages own personal growth and development, learns from experience and is willing to undertake new experiences • Has good interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills. • Able to maintain a positive and enthusiastic approach and has a high energy level. • Has proven ability in initiating and developing own programme of work. • Knowledge and application of Global/Development • Willing to travel extensively within England and Wales
