Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Security Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) with duty station in Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. Under the general supervision of the Principal Security Adviser (PSA), the incumbent reports to the Chief Security Officer / Deputy PSA.

Within delegated authority, the Security Coordination Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

Education
Job - Specific Qualification
UNDSS Security Certification Programme certificate is desirable.
Security Analysis Process and Practice certificate is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years with advanced university degree (seven years with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in the military, police or security management is required.
At least five years of progressively more senior experience in security operations management or control, within a military, police or security organization is required.
At least two years of experience in managing multiple military, police or security units operating in a conflict or post conflict environment at international level is required.
Experience working with or coordinating closely with local authorities and law enforcement agencies is desirable.
Experience in management of security units in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies, funds, and programmes) or similar international organization or non-governmental organization in a field based environment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
Assessment
