For SNV Peru (duty station: Lima) we are looking for a

Senior Advisor Tourism Development

SNV is supporting pro-poor tourism development in Peru through the provision of high quality capacity development services to key actors at national and regional level.

The senior tourism advisor will initially provide her/his advisory services to clients in the Northern and Amazon regions.

The advisor will be based in Lima, capital of Peru. The tourism advisor will work closely together with SNV advisors in Local economic Development, Local Governance and Natural Resource Management.

Your main responsibilities will be • Advice clients on technical aspects of tourism development, organizational issues, develop strategies, scanning and promoting of new markets and products. • Support SNV clients in developing tourism policies and effective lobby strategies that contribute to sustainable development and poverty alleviation. • Support inter-organisational coordination and cooperation among different stakeholders involved in the tourism and development sector. • Identify and develop effective working relationships with new clients which hold a strategic position in the country’s tourism development. • Provide input for the positioning and identification of key issues for SNV Peru and SNV Latin America in pro-poor tourism . • Coach SNV Colleagues in order to enhance their expertise and skills to deal with tourism issues. • Contribute to knowledge sharing of best practices and lessons learnt within SNV partly through active participation in SNV´s Latin American network of Tourism Advisors.

Requirements: Educational background: Specialisation in Marketing of tourism products and/or Tourism product development, desirable with a Master degree in a relevant field, such as Tourism, Tourism Development and/or Economics or any other related discipline. Experience: At least 8 years of work experience in advisory work specially in tourism development and/or marketing of tourism products and implementation of policies that effectively promote pro-poor sustainable development, experience in networking and alliancing. Work experience in Latin America, preferably including Peru. Knowledge: Pro-poor tourism development, Capacity strengthening, market chain development and policy development. Skills: quick adaptation to a multicultural working environment, strong affinity with working in teams, coaching abilities, good communication and analytical skills. Additional requirement: Must be fluent in Spanish (spoken and written) and good command of English. Availability to conduct intensive in-country travel (at least 50% of time) and some international travel.

Salary Scale 11: minimum €2,536 – maximum €3,945 gross per month (hypo tax will be deducted), depending on relevant working experience, excluding attractive secondary conditions and individual allowances. Contract period: 3 years Desired appointment date: As soon as possible
