Job Description

DAI is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our busy Business Development Team within the EU Business Unit. This will be a full-time permanent role based either in Serbia, Spain or Bulgaria. Please submit a cover letter stating why you meet the requirements of the role. The Senior Business Development Manager, at grade P6, will be responsible for winning EU-funded projects in French and Spanish-speaking countries.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  1. Manage new business opportunities in French and Spanish-speaking countries in relevant sectors and client markets, including the tracking of key pipeline projects ( identifying potential partners as well as relevant research and networking ) .

  2. R esearch new market opportunities in French and Spanish-speaking countries and obtain market intelligence .

  3. Manage the preparation of Expressions of Interest , technical proposals and financial proposals and m eet planning, budgeting and reporting targets .

  4. Coordinat e bid teams - assistants, drafters, recruit ers and graphic design ers.

  5. E nsur e all administrative documents meet compliance obligations and client requirements .

  6. M aintain and develop a network of expert and partner firms .

  7. Support or lead recruitment efforts for proposals .

  8. W rite sections of technical and financial proposals as required .

  9. T ravel for the scoping and reconnaissance of current and expected bidding opportunities .

  10. F acilitate information sharing within the Business Development Department and with other DAI Units, Departments and offices .

  11. Manag e the proposal review process, preparation o f interviews, contract management and handover for all submitted tenders .

Essential:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent

  • Demonstrable understanding of and interest in international development and working in an international/multi-cultural environment

  • Extensive proven experience of working with major European donors

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal – in English, French and Spanish

  • Demonstrable ability to write technical text in French and Spanish

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Proactive, assertive and action-oriented with strong intellectual agility and ability

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • Ability to travel internationally if required

Desirable:

  • E xperience backstopping donor-funded projects

  • Experience of quality management systems
