Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our International Development team on a permanent and full-time basis. This role is based in Lusaka, Zambia and is open to both national and international candidates who are happy to re-locate on a long-term basis. We will support with obtaining the necessary work permit/documentation and appropriate relocation provisions.

Working with an established team of experts, we are looking for a Senior Consultant to advance Ecorys’ credentials and business potential in the area of international development. You will champion business development across the Southern Africa region working closely with our team to manage and deliver high quality project proposals. Additionally, you will be pro-active in identifying potential project opportunities and keeping abreast of donor priorities. You will manage client relationships and develop broad and deep networks across the region. In addition to winning new work, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality consultancy work and projects being mindful of timescales and budgets. This involves leading projects, contributing expertise to various aspects of team projects and developing systems to support the client experience. You will be responsible for the effective management of financial and human resources for projects that you are handling and delegating to the project team members effectively.

The ideal person

As a senior role, we are looking for someone who has a good quality first degree in economics, development economics, international development, international geography etc. You will have experience of delivering projects in the field of international development with posts held in reputable and relevant international organisations. You will be enthusiastic about winning new work and able to demonstrate effective business development skills, from providing technical and quality assurance inputs to leading some bids independently. You will have strong project management experience, particularly with time management, multitasking, leading, delegating and coaching others. You will be able to demonstrate expertise in an array of our development topics as well as project design, methodology, management approaches and delivery techniques.

Excellent networking and interpersonal skills are essential as are English language verbal and writing skills.


A competitive salary depending on experience plus benefits including a performance bonus in addition to a relocation package (for international candidates).
