DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The International Criminal Court is seeking qualified candidates to fill positions as Senior Court reporter – English at the GS-7 level. Under the general supervision of the Chief of Court Management Section, the incumbent shall:
1. Supervise the work of court reporters and text processors in the language area, providing guidance and training, organizing and assigning work, and monitoring and advising on performance
2. Monitor and oversee the production and quality of accurate records of court proceeding, identifying solutions to disruptions or incidents likely to effect the quality of transcripts
3. Finalize and authenticate transcripts as official records within the time limits established
4. Ensure the accurate use of language, verifying spelling, references, citations; create and maintain dictionaries, glossaries, and databases
5. Take verbatim records of proceedings in shorthand in real-timer context using a computerized stenotype machine
6. Transcribe verbatim shorthand records into real-time English transcript, using a computer aided transcription system (CAT)
7. Maintain security and safeguarding of records
8. Coordinate the provision of transcripts by external court reporters.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
1. Post secondary specialized course in court reporting or equivalent highly desirable, followed by intensive training in the occupation; certification as court reporter by successfully passing registered professional reporters examinations is an advantage;
ed shorthand and typing speeds of between 200 to 225 words per minute;
y to use a CAT system in a microsoft windows environment, equipment is provided by the Court;
knowledge of legal terminology and exposure to courtroom environment;

Experience: 8 years, with a minimum of 5 years in courtroom environment, and preferably in an international environment, real-time experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES Native English speaker, with a good command in writing and speaking, knowledge of French or another official language of the Court.
