Job Description

As Senior Director (Strategic Partnerships), you will report to the Deputy Vice President for Sector Operations and serve as the principal advisor on strategic partnership matters to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. As Senior Director (Strategic Partnerships) and you will:

  • Serve as a key member of the Department’s management team by leading the creation, development and oversight of strategic partnerships (SP).
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and processes to leverage partnerships with a wide range of actors (e.g. other Federal agencies, non-governmental and civil society organizations, foundations, impact investors, bilateral and multilateral donors, regional organizations, and businesses) to increase the reach and impact of MCC’s compact programs and model; and (through these partnerships, support the use of innovative tools and methods (e.g., social/ development impact bonds, grand challenges, big data, and mobile technologies) to advance MCC’s goals and development effectiveness practice.
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of the SP portfolio, establish and maintain standards and guidance for strategic partnerships, and oversee the mobilization and management of SP personnel and resources.
  • Lead the development of MCC’s approach to strategic partnerships and related innovations, providing overall leadership, guidance, quality control, risk management, and oversight of SP.
  • Provide leadership for, and oversight of, the work of SP staff working with MCC country and regional teams on developing and executing partnership opportunities to increase the impact of Compact investments.
  • Serve as a recognized agency expert and senior advisor to agency leaders on how partnerships and innovative tools and approaches can reduce poverty and increase economic growth.
  • Coordinate and lead knowledge management activities for SP, including the coordination and leadership of conferences, workshops, and other events, as well as publications, lessons learned documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee SP-specific budgets and resources related to administration, personnel, compact development and implementation, etc.
  • Perform administrative and human resource management functions related to the staff supervised. Ensure continuing affirmative application of MCC policies concerning equal opportunity.

This position is located in the Department of Compact Operations (DCO), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). Within DCO, Within DCO, the Sector Operations Division is responsible for the development and oversight of MCC's agriculture, land, and human and community development investments; partnerships and innovation; gender integration and social inclusion; and procurement and fiscal accountability oversight of compact programs.

Although the position is advertised equivalent to SES/SL in pay, MCC uses a pay banded system to compensate employees. This position is pay band MC-2d which is generally equal to SES/SL pay only.

This is a full-time, term position that will last 24 months. MCC has the option of extending this term appointment for an additional two (2) years.
