Role overview:
Kiva Capital, Kiva’s asset management subsidiary, provides working capital to refugees, women, bipoc and small businesses adversely affected by COVID, and manages impact-first return bearing vehicles for leading impact investors. Kiva Capital is looking for a highly motivated Senior Fund Operations Manager to join our team. This role will be a key part of the Kiva Capital team and offers a tremendous opportunity at a fast growing impact asset manager. This position will focus on the operational and financial aspects of investment funds that extend private debt investments to financial service providers and small-medium enterprises in the emerging / frontier markets and within the United States. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and be a multi-talented and versatile team player with a hyper focus on detail-orientation, accountability and taking initiative.

Key responsibilities include: Fund Management, Fund Administration, Loan Administration, Liquidity and Treasury Management, Relationship Management, Audit and Tax.
- Maintain the books and records for the KCM Funds in accordance with the Fund Documents and develop and update all portfolio operational procedures including process documentation.
- Review of quarterly financial statements, partnership allocations, valuations, performance, footnotes, and supplemental financial reporting for the Kiva Capital Funds.
- Manage Kiva Capital Funds’ investors/lenders drawdowns and repayments; prepare and review periodic reporting, calculate/track interest and principal payments.
- Responsible for financial and investor reporting, including writing reports, facilitating fund reviews and meeting fund reporting requirements.
- Monitor and ensure CDFI compliance with the California Rebuilding Fund’s Operating Manual, addressing eligibility questions as they arise. Onboard new CDFIs as needed and manage relationships accordingly.
- Liaise with the legal team to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and assist in facilitating completion of fund documentation as necessary.
- Lead the annual audits of the Kiva Capital funds, review of audited financials and ensure filing of all tax returns, K-1s’ and other ad-hoc requests by providing documentation and liaising with Kiva Capital funds’ tax preparers.
- Proactively engage with a large cross-section of teams, internally and externally, including the Investment Team, Investor Relations, Risk, Legal, Finance, Fund Admin, Auditor, external stakeholders, Lending Partners and CDFIs to ensure clear and timely communications.
- Lead loan administration tasks including: monitor loan covenants and payment dates/amounts, prepare and monitor repayment schedules based on loan agreements and hedge confirmations. Further develop and maintain in-house tools to support the function as needed.
- Manage Kiva Capital funds’ expense payments and related bank wires, in USD and/or local currencies, prepare and review journal entries and wires, track and reconcile flow of funds with bank account cash balances
- Support Fund cash forecasting and budgeting. Facilitate, execute, and monitor fund liquidity (available cash, minimum cash) against fund ALM policies.
Role Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field.
- Advanced degree and/or CPA are preferable.
- 5+ years’ of relevant investment and/or fund operations experience at an asset manager or a fund administrator. Experience with alternative investments is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of various financial instruments, especially emerging market private debt investments and derivatives. Basic knowledge of Level 3 valuation methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple demands and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Hyper detail-oriented, strong organization skills, focus on accuracy and ability to mult-task.
- Accountable/follows through, takes initiative and ownership.
- Excellent ability to communicate professionally, inclusive of the ability to interact effectively with executive level professionals, internally and externally.
- Demonstrated commitment to Kiva’ mission of financial inclusion.
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint, with familiarity of Netsuite a plus.

- Ability to take on and successfully complete ad hoc project work as required.
