SCP- Société du Canal de Provence is looking for an experienced Senior Irrigation Engineer (f/m) for a position of team leader for a large irrigation project rehabilitation in Myanmar.

- DURATION: 16 months full time – Phase1 – 24 Months Phase2

Our Vacancy
SCP has been shortlisted to provide consulting services for the Irrigation Systems Modernization over a scheme of 20,000 ha located in the central Dry zone of Myanmar. The scope of the assignment is to provide support activities to the project, and in particular to (i) prepare detailed engineering designs and tender documents for the Irrigation Scheme;(ii) support the tender process, (iii) perform the role of the Engineer for the supervision of civil works contracts, and (iv) ensure close coordination with other consultant services.
Your Main Duties in this Position
As a Team Leader/Irrigation Engineer, you will:
- Provide overall responsibility for leading, managing, coordinating and reporting during implementation, including preparation and implementation of work plans;
- Coordinate all the activities linked to the civil works of the irrigation project : feasibility and design;
- Work closely with the client and coordinate closely with the other consultant teams.
- Monitor progress against project implementation schedule and coordinate preparation and submission of periodic progress and technical reports;
- Assist the client in evaluating bids and contract management;
- Ensure that the design phase is undertaken with a participatory and bottom up approach;
- Ensure that the quality of outputs meet the required standards;
- Ensure timely completion of the design works and other activities
- Provide training and capacity building, as appropriate, particularly on participatory approaches.
Your Expertise / Profile for this Position
- Full academic qualification (MSc. or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage, Water Resources management
- At least 15 years proven work experience in international consulting development projects with focus on irrigation and drainage with demonstrated experience in South East Asia. Experience with feasibility studies, detailed design, including preparation of bidding documents and evaluation of bid proposals under international competitive bidding and work supervision.
- Demonstrated experience working on development projects funded by multilateral donor agencies, preferably projects funded by AFD. Knowledge of AFD project management and procurement rules would be an asset.
- Ability to verify tender documents (calculations, drawings, specifications, etc.)
- Fluent language skills (oral and written) in English, additional language skills in French would be an advantage
- Distinct communication skills as well as report writing skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams as well as being a self-starter personality
- Ability to work under time-pressure
