Overview

Banyan Global is recruiting a Senior Learning Advisor for the Learn to Perform (L2P) award for the USAID Mission in Malawi. The Senior Learning Advisor will provide expert support to the L2P Chief of Party and technical staff on designing and delivering Collaboration, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) support to the Mission, its implementing partners, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a doer, willing to roll up his or her sleeves working closely with Mission and L2P staff in the organization and delivery of CLA activities. He or she will be well-versed in CLA principles, familiar with USAID operational processes, and an excellent communicator. The consultancy is for up to six months and will be both remote and in-person, requiring travel to Lilongwe for periods of up to four to six weeks at a time.

Responsibilities
  • Set the vision and conceptual approach for capturing and synthesizing evidence for answering USAID/Malawi learning priorities and disseminating them for adaptive management of Mission activities
  • Develop and operationalize strategies for increasing uptake of findings and recommendations from L2P monitoring, evaluations, and assessments, including synthesizing learnings from other USAID activities, Government of Malawi and development partners;
  • Support USAID/Malawi to implement strategies and processes for incorporating CLA throughout the Program Cycle in support of the Mission’s integrated Country Development Cooperation Strategy; Work with the Knowledge management and CLA specialists to develop and implement L2P communication strategy
  • Plan and facilitate organizational reflection and learning opportunities, to external stakeholders and Mission technical teams to foster internal discussions, reflection, learning and adaptation related to both technical programming and internal operations;
  • Develop learning products and tools for USAID/Malawi staff and implementing partners, in line with USAID’s CLA practices;
  • Design and facilitate MEL capacity building initiatives for USAID/Malawi staff and implementing partners; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least eight years of professional experience supporting organizational learning and development;
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering activities and products based on CLA principles;
  • Demonstrated familiarity with ADS 201; and
  • University degree in relevant field, graduate degree preferred.

Preferred qualifications

  • Similar experience on a USAID-funded award; and
  • Professional experience in Malawi.
