Your Role

As the Senior Officer, Leadership Engagement and Communication, you will support the Leadership Planning & Engagement workstream within the GPA Office of the President. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Advocacy Operations, you will manage aspects of external engagement, communications, travel, operations, and learning for the GPA President.

You will:

  • Support planning and execution of key initiatives including the Advocacy and Voice Plan, GPA President’s external engagement, co-chair engagements, opportunistic advocacy campaigns, and other special projects.
  • Provide project and program management support, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure projects achieve scope and impact.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner on specific initiatives, programs, or processes, and contribute to strengthening the overall performance of the Office of the President (OOP).
Key Responsibilities
  • Support divisional priorities by developing and implementing special projects assigned by the Deputy Director.
  • Assist in tactical planning and execution of external advocacy activities for the GPA President and other foundation leadership.
  • Provide operational support and strategic partnership to the Deputy Director, ensuring continuity and execution across Engagement team priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Director and Engagement team to drive alignment, execution, and accountability across portfolios.
  • Leverage communications expertise to enhance storytelling, stakeholder messaging, and strategic narrative development, elevating the President’s external voice.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement forward-looking communication strategies supporting the foundation’s engagement goals.
  • Support the development and execution of a political risk framework by monitoring geopolitical dynamics, assessing risks, and informing engagement strategies.
  • Provide additional support for internal priorities as needed.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
Your Experience & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategy, operations, communications, advocacy, or related fields—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record supporting senior leaders/executives, managing communications, external engagement, travel, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and delivering results under tight timelines.
  • Mastery of project and program management, designing and executing complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills (writing, editing, verbal), including executive voice development and tailoring messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with experience identifying opportunities to elevate leadership voices and influence external audiences.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information, including political/geopolitical dynamics, to inform decision-making and engagement strategies.
  • Skilled at translating strategy into practical implementation plans, providing clarity in ambiguous situations, and anticipating downstream implications.
  • Familiarity with change management and continuous improvement practices to enhance team performance and operations.
  • Experience working across diverse cultural and professional settings with a collaborative and diplomatic style.
  • Strong commitment to the foundation’s mission, values, and impact goals, with integrity, accountability, and discretion in sensitive work.

Preferred:

  • Functional experience in global policy and advocacy, government relations, strategic communications, policy analysis, or stakeholder engagement, particularly in international development, health, or philanthropic sectors.

Work Authorization:

  • Must be able to legally work in the country of employment without visa sponsorship.
