Job Summary

In this role, you will help build Amazon’s renewable energy portfolio by planning, negotiating and executing renewable energy supply contracts.

This role will work closely with utilities and energy project developers to accelerate Amazon’s renewable energy pipeline and manage the financial performance and long-term risks associated with energy contracts.

You will identify key market conditions, regulations, and commercial structures to evaluate potential opportunities. You will have a results orientated approach, analytical skill set, and strong financial acumen.

Job Responsibilities

  • ­Lead the deal process for power purchase agreements and utility renewable energy contracts
  • ­Perform financial analysis and business case justification for project opportunities to senior leadership
  • ­Support contract negotiations with external partners
  • Lead internal review of contracts with Legal, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and Tax teams
  • ­Create written proposals for priority opportunities, and drive agreements to contract execution
  • Conduct related tasks including energy market analysis, project diligence, and financial analysis.

Colorado Pay Transparency:
The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $139,500 - $188,700. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Applicants should apply via Amazon’s internal or external careers site.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, engineering, finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working in project development/ utility/ energy industry
  • 2+ leading energy transactions with utilities and/or renewable energy developers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • ­Master’s degree in related field
  • 8+ years in energy industry, leading energy contract negotiations, energy regulations, or renewable development in the Americas
  • Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets and opportunities including utility tariffs, policies, power contracts
  • Experience with renewable energy certificate programs, project development, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources
  • Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as utilities, regional power planning agencies, renewable project developers, project investors, and renewable Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects with minimal direction
  • Strong negotiations skills; ability to develop and execute strategies to drive complex energy deals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and financial acumen to deliver results in a fast-paced, technical environment
