Job Description

Engility Corporation, building on IRG’s legacy in international development, seeks an experienced SeniorAgriculture and Food Security Specialist, who will be based at our home office in Washington, DC and will join the Agriculture, Climate and Natural Resources Area(ACNR) within Engility’s International division.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join the Agriculture and Food Security Practice Area within the ACNR Business Area and contribute to the organization’s related business development and technical interventions. The Senior Agriculture and Food Security Specialist provides project support and technical services to on-going relevant contracts, leads efforts to capture new business in existing and adjacent markets, and engages in thought leadership activities. This position reports to the Practice Manager of the Agriculture and Food Security Practice and works in close collaboration with other ACNR members, project partners, clients, and other International Business Areas. Regular travel is required, occasionally with short notice and for extended periods.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Business Development:

  • Contribute to strategy development to expand business in the areas of agriculture, food security, enterprise development and rural livelihoods
  • Work with the Business Development team to drive the capture of new business opportunities
  • Lead and support proposal efforts, including serving as solution architect and lead writer, proposal manager, editing, and reviewing proposals
  • Represent Engility at meetings, conferences, and in communications with current and prospective new clients
  • Draft and edit content for relevant communications and marketing
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients and potential clients
  • Ensure that information about our opportunity pipeline is accurate and up-to-date

Technical Assistance:

  • Provide short-term technical assistance on projects, both domestically and overseas;
  • Interact with clients on technical issues associated with projects;
  • Assist in developing project workplans to achieve project objectives and propose necessary activity and deliverable changes and innovations.

Project Management:

  • Provide and coordinate home office assistance to field projects
  • Support Project key personnel in completion of overall contract objectives and activities
  • Track and monitor project budget and LOE expenditures
  • Ensure quality control of project deliverables
  • Identify/anticipate long-range activities and problems/constraints of the project, key personnel, and the client
  • Participate in the design and recommendation of policies and approaches for implementing project and corporate work

Team Mentoring and Growth:

  • Contribute to mentoring and developing junior staff members
  • Assist with selecting and interviewing staff to be added to the home office team and for projects and proposals
  • Participate in Division meetings
MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Master’s degree in an area relating to international agriculture and agribusiness development
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the agriculture sector
  • 2+ years of international/overseas experience
  • Previous USAID experience
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of innovative solutions to technical issues and programs
  • State-of-the-art knowledge in related areas, including food security, market systems development, resilience, and climate smart agriculture
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Software Experience: MS Office
  • Proficient in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong quantitative or qualitative analysis skills
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • French or Spanish language skills
