Shoet Term Individual Consultants: Horticultural Export Promotion and Technology Transfer Project

Job Description

The Ministry of Agriculture has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), toward the cost of the Horticultural Export Promotion and Technology Transfer Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for consultant services in the following fields:

- Supply Chain Specialist - Post Harvest Specialist (Cold storage, pre cooling, transportation, etc.) - Export Development Specialists (business plan, export marketing, marketing information, etc.) - Quality Control Specialists - Farm Management Polices Specialists - Contract Farming Specialist (Between producers, exporters and Importers, and Legal Adviser)

Ministry of Agriculture now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).

The expression of interest will offer Individual Consultant the opportunity to be placed on HEPTTs data qualification list for the area named above. It is intended that this list will be active until the end of 2007. HEPTT will use this procedure to select a short list of the most qualified consultants to be consulted as needed for services in the areas mentioned above.

Qualification and Experience Required: *

- Advanced university degree in business administration, Agri. Business, Economics, marketing, or related fields - Minimum of five years of relevant practical experience in related activities of fresh produce to Europe and Middle East - Proficiency in Arabic is an asset - Substantial experience in horticulture export development, export market requirements, and management of matching grants aimed at promoting exports and competitiveness

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers published by the bank January 1997 and revised in September 1997 and January 1999.
