Job Description

Tetra Tech is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for Site Engineer positions for a USAID-funded health infrastructure project in Ethiopia. Site Engineers will be posted at construction sites in one of four regions: Finote Selam, Bahia Dar, Dessie, and Awassa. Housing or a housing allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities at health facility sites
  • Prepare daily construction site reports
  • Provide quality assurance of construction and materials testing
  • Monitor contractor’s compliance with schedule, cost, and quality
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety, gender, and environmental requirements
  • Report construction issues to Tetra Tech management and USAID as necessary
  • Provide input to responses to contractor requests for information
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Reports to Regional Engineer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in civil engineering
  • Five years of relevant experience, preferably on USAID or donor-funded construction supervision and design activities
  • Ethiopian engineering certification
  • Experience managing staff and project tasks
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and CAD
  • Proficiency in Amharic and English, both oral and written
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
