SME Finance Specialist

Job Description

ShoreBank International Ltd. is seeking Small and Medium Enterprises Finance (MSME) specialists to assist in the implementation of capacity-building and knowledge transfer programs for a financial institution in India. Financial institution clients and partners may include: commercial banks, leasing companies, non-bank finance companies, microfinance institutions, and NGOs. Upcoming opportunities in small and medium enterprise (MSME) finance are expected for projects in the country. Opportunities range from short-term technical assignments of 2-3 months, to overseas postings from 6-24 months.

Key competency areas sought include:

-Experience in assisting financial institutions to downscale and serve the SME segment in at least one, and preferably two, world regions. Knowledge of the IFC, EBRD or KfW models of bank downscaling would be an advantage.
-Demonstrated knowledge of the financial sector in India.
- Experience of providing advisory services in the following key areas:
oCredit risk management
oMarket strategy
oProduct development
oIT/MIS systems development
oTraining
- The ability to provide TA in the language of the relevant financial institution, as well as in English, is imperative. - Institutional due diligence, market assessments, financial modeling and analysis;
- Direct management of MSME lending departments, with an emphasis on mentoring and coaching skills for effective knowledge transfer;
- Technology innovations and Management Information Systems;
- Loan officer and management training, and Trainer-of-Trainers;

Essential Qualifications:
-University degree in an economic or financial discipline; MBA, MPP or equivalent preferred
-Capacity to analyze and interpret financial statements
-Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
-Highly developed interpersonal skills
-Energetic self-starter and motivational team player
-Flexible with respect to time and travel requirements
-International work experience in a development context
-Financial sector experience
-Curriculum development and training experience
-Fluency in, or the commitment to learn, the language of the country of operations

Highly Valued Qualifications:
-Specialization in SME Finance.
-Specialization in marketing and strategy
-Specialization in loan process streamlining, including credit scoring technologies
-Skills and experience in global risk management for financial institutions
-Hindi language skills especially sought after
