Job description:
The SBC consultant will support TSI project teams to design and implement relevant SBC strategies specific for each area. They will be responsible for providing technical expertise for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of TSI SBC strategies, and coordinating with and building the capacity of TSI SBC coordinators. In addition, the SBC consultant will support the monitoring of behavior change outcomes, conduct qualitative research and literature reviews, and support the design and development of professional communications documents and training materials. Working directly with Director of Programs, the SBC consultant will engage with country level program staff, and clients/ donors based in DC and in country. This position will start as a part time (up to 75% LOE) 3 month contract with the option to renew and extend. This is a homebased consultancy position with some in person meetings in the DC area required. There may be opportunity for travel to TSI programs in country.
Job responsibilities include:
· Take full ownership of SBC strategy development, leading design and providing technical guidance for implementation of SBC activities;
· Lead the development and implementation of SBC framework, tools, messages and other materials;
· Develop SBC interventions, based on findings and evidence from formative research and other SBC-oriented assessments and ensure high quality and timely delivery of project deliverables against objectives and targets;
· Ensure the utilization of best practices, established SBC strategies and guidelines, available quantitative data, and global learning to inform the development of effective SBC strategies, frameworks, and tools;
· Provide technical leadership in the development of effective communication tools using global best practices and innovative approaches;
· Contribute to documenting lessons learned and best practices, briefs and articles for publication, and stories of change;
· Lead the development of proposals related to SBC strategy activities.
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of relevant technical experience;
· M.A./ MSc in International Development,, Social Behavior Change Communication, Public Health or other relevant degree with an emphasis on early childhood development, nutrition, gender, inclusion or maternal and child health;
· Familiarity with emerging behavior change approaches, including behavioral science, behavioral economics, nudges, gamification, and human centered approaches;
· Experience supporting USAID funded project activities with an understanding of USAID policies and procedures (highly preferred), or those of other donors, donor funded projects, community- based projects, or corporate social responsibility projects;
· Experience working with local organizations and partners;
· Demonstrated experience working with a multicultural team and creating a collaborative, empowering environment as well ability to set tasks and work independently to achieve goals and targets;
· Experience with event/conference planning and coordination/oversight for dissemination, validation, and coordination and learning events (remotely);
· Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills in English;
· Demonstrated skills and experience in qualitative and quantitative research including ability to comprehend and contextualize global literature and articulate formative research into concise policy objectives;
· Experience in statistical and qualitative software is a plus;
· Fluency with planning software and design suites (tableau, MIRO, InDesign, etc.) is strongly preferred;
· Experience supporting programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially Rwanda, Uganda, Mozambique is preferred.

Evaluation, Assessment & Research
Provide full life cycle from methodology and tool development to management of data collection and analysis. Expertise in: baseline, midterm, end-line evaluations; end-user monitoring; impact assessment; and social research.
Currently, we are searching for a qualified Social Behavior Change Consultant to support ongoing SBC work in Rwanda, Mozambique, and Uganda in the areas of Nutrition, Early Childhood Development, and financial inclusion for vulnerable populations.
