Asia Society is a global, not-for-profit organisation that navigates shared futures for Asia and the world across policy, business, sustainability, technology, education and arts and culture. It is a global network of 16 centres that works to foster insight, encourage engagement, elevate regional voices, inform and educate new audiences, and addresses complex – and where necessary – contentious challenges. The India Centre focuses on modern South Asia and has delivered over 800 programmes (including panel discussions, roundtables, galas and other strategic initiatives) since its inception, establishing itself as a leading public education platform and an important forum for the discussion of regional and global affairs.

Summary:

We are hiring! Asia Society India Centre is currently seeking a highly motivated, organized, and creative individual to join its communications and social media team. The candidate should have strong interpersonal, writing, and design skills, and a passion for social media content creation. Discipline is no bar, but the candidate must be able to research, ideate and synthesise insights into crisp content around business, gender, the economy, technology, culture and contemporary art. The candidate must be curious, eager to learn, and open to working in a small, collaborative and cohesive team. Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the senior communications officer to conceptualise, plan, and execute Asia Society India Centre’s communications strategy. This includes social media calendar planning, campaign development, copywriting, and basic design for digital communications and promotional material.
  • Administration: Support day-to-day communications operations including website updates, managing Linktree, tracking campaign progress, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring upkeep of the social media calendar.
  • Research and Conceptualisation: Assist in developing creative campaign ideas and strategic social media plans that reflect Asia Society India Centre’s programmes, audiences, and mission.
  • Social Media Execution: Manage the posting schedule across platforms, create and share live stories during events, and handle basic community and response management.
  • Analytics: Track performance across social media and email campaigns (Mailchimp), identify patterns and areas for improvement, and support monthly analytics reporting.
  • Copywriting: Draft copy for social media captions, newsletters, and other digital communication needs.
  • Design Support: Create simple and visually consistent social media posts and promotional visuals in line with Asia Society India Centre’s branding guidelines.

Requirements:

The applicant must possess:

  • 0-2 years of work experience in social media or design roles, ideally within a non-profit organisation; an interest in the landscape of the South Asian region is imperative.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the humanities or social sciences is preferable (Communications, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Business).
  • Excellent research, organizational, written, verbal and computer skills
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and personalities in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment
  • Work independently and be self-motivated about deadlines and project management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and follow through on details
  • Proficiency in Zoom, Canva and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Knowledge of other design and video editing software preferred.

This is a full-time position in Mumbai.
