This is an exciting opportunity to join Land Stewardship to use your skills as an analyst, collaborator and advisor to support the development and delivery of programmes on the Natural Resources Wales (NRW) land estate: 156kha or 7% of Wales, 40% of Wales woodland, 56 (23k ha of) National Nature Reserves (NNR). You will use your knowledge and experience in the delivery of the day-to-day operation of systems and data implementation that will feed into the Land Stewardship Service Plan (LSSP).
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
- As a business subject matter expert in the Timber Planning System (TPS) and CMSi (Conservation Management System). Provide expert technical advice to all business users including Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Business as Usual and Development teams. Prepare technical assessments, drawing on a range of complex information and data to inform operational programmes.
- Manage the preparation of material to inform the development of NRW programmes of work though the Land Stewardship Service Plan (LSSP). Manage the development of procedures, tools and guidance and lead the delivery of new ways of working, supporting a joined-up planning approach between Operations and Marketing teams and ensuring compliance with UK Forest Standard and UK Woodland Assurance Standard.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as Welsh Government, sector representatives and partners to ensure the timely and effective delivery of project, policy, or strategy obligations.
- Advise on evidence gaps and project manage agreed evidence projects, in line with the agreed evidence programme.
- Produce appropriate records of decisions, actions and outcomes to justify and demonstrate that all legal and procedural requirements have been met.
- Support engagement with sectors, partners, Welsh Government, Confor and other Environment bodies in the UK; and be the lead point of contact for customer queries.
- Maintain knowledge of the assigned sector(s) identifying the implications of legislative, technology and market changes for Natural Resources Wales and the sector(s) and share best practice.
- Contribute to task and finish groups, commissioned through the Business Boards, to prepare defined products as required.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader to develop and deliver priorities.
Qualifications, experience and knowledge
Knowledge and experience of the following:
- Extensive expertise and experience in successfully supervising operating and maintaining an Information Technology system.
- An expert level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office packages, Document Management Systems, Cloud computing, and Geographical Information System, plus a demonstrable aptitude for learning new software at pace.
- You will have a recognised applicable qualification, degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience of technical analysis and interpretation of a range of complex environmental information and data sources; and analysing and presenting large data sets.
- Experience of working with/in the land management sector, local authorities, environmental non-governmental organisations (ENGO’s), and National Parks.
- Experience of working in a programme and project management environment with Project Management experience and/or qualifications.
- Experience of sharing your knowledge and expertise to help solve problems, supporting all Heads of Business in Evidence Policy and Permitting (EPP) as required.
