Job Description

The role
Join Solomon Islands Growth Program in Honiara to support the implementation of the new undersea cable and coordinate a Solomon Islands whole of government approach designed to maximise the benefits of faster and more reliable internet for Solomon Islands.

This role also involves:

  • Act as the Solomon Island Government (SIG) focal point for the (Solomon Islands Submarine Cable Company) SISCC and the Government of Australia for the delivery of the Coral Sea Cable System and Solomon Islands Domestic Network;
  • Work with the Ministry of Communications and Aviation (MCA) and the ICT Support Unit, Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MOFT) to fast track implementation of the National ICT policy, by developing a roadmap for SIG to operationalise the National ICT policy, including digital government and a digital economy
  • Lead efforts to coordinate SIG ICT work, including through the establishment a Whole of Government, private sector and development partner ICT Committee that provide updates on the undersea cable infrastructure, and implementation of the National ICT policy.

About you
You will be a motivated and proactive Projects Manager with the right combination of talent, energy and a commitment to technical excellence.

You will also have:

  • 10 years’ plus experience in an executive level position in the public or private sectors
  • Experience in leading and coordinating major projects for government
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective relationships and work with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent representation skills, including the ability to undertake complex negotiations
  • Proven experience working with development partners and understanding different systems, processes and expectations
  • Proven experience engaging with risk, including implementing suitable risk mitigation measures and solving complex problems

Remuneration
This position will be remunerated in line with the Australian Government’s Adviser Remuneration Framework and will be offered at a level commensurate of the successful candidates experience relevant to the role, within the following classification Discipline Group C, Job Level 4.
