Your role

As Structured Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in the Financial Institutions Nasira team. This dynamic position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, such as originating innovative Nasira+ investments, managing client relationships, monitoring existing portfolios and contributing to business and product development. You will be instrumental in expanding the program’s impact globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying new investment opportunities, sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing Nasira portfolio guarantees in alignment with the organization risk appetite and policy objectives.
  • Leading client presentations, pitching transactions, and explaining Nasira’s complex structure in a clear and compelling way.
  • Conducting due diligence (including on-site visits) on financial institutions, MSME loan portfolios, markets, and regulations (travel required).
  • Structuring transactions, negotiating terms, and preparing legal documentation.
  • Operating credit portfolio model to cover credit risk, drafting investment proposals, and presenting them to the Investment Credit Committee and management.
  • End-to-end management of Nasira transaction investment cycles.
  • Collaborating with the risk management team to maintain and adjust credit portfolio model.
  • Establishing and foster relationships with clients and stakeholders, offering solutions aligned with their needs and our objectives.
  • Monitoring and managing guaranteed portfolios with the Portfolio Monitoring team, providing information on portfolio risks, input for credit reviews and change requests and proposing strategies to enhance portfolio management.
  • Coaching junior team members to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Constantly improving product features, internal processes, and strategy to enhance the team’s business plan and financial projections.
  • Developing internal policies and guidelines related to the product in collaboration with other teams.

  • Gross yearly salary ranging from EUR 80-90K (based on 40 hours/ week, including 8% holiday allowance and 13th month) depending on your seniority, years of relevant experience, and background

Your team

The Financial Institutions department developed Nasira, a risk‑sharing facility that uses loan portfolio guarantees and synthetic securitizations to boost investments in underserved MSMEs across Eastern Europe & Central Asia, MENA, and Sub‑Saharan Africa. The program is partially counter‑guaranteed by the European Commission and the Dutch MASSIF fund.

Following Nasira’s successful deployment, FMO, the EC, and MASSIF launched Nasira+ in 2025, expanding both its volume and geographic scope to include Asia and Latin America.

The Nasira team is a specialized unit of nine professionals and in this role you report to the Manager.

As a Structured Finance Officer, you will play a key role in achieving the program’s goals and supporting its continued growth and impact.

Your background

To excel in this role, you will bring:

  • Master’s degree in economics, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or comparable fields.
  • At least 7-8 years of relevant experience in the financial sector.
  • Experience managing client relationships (preferably with financial institutions) in emerging markets, with a track record in business development and transaction execution.
  • Solid understanding of credit and risk analysis relevant to portfolio guarantees/risk sharing facilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of MSME credit products, processes, and lending in emerging markets.
  • Preferably experience with risk sharing facilities/portfolio guarantees and/or synthetic securitizations.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Preferred Spanish communication and presentations skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced Excel or data analytics skills.
