Description & Selection Criteria

The Subgrants Associate will work closely with the Grants Manager to provide support for APWLD’s sub-grants management. This role may evolve into an officer level position, upon internal assessment and confirmation after two years.

Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific.
• In depth understanding and knowledge on political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights.
• Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years experience in working with civil society and/or social movements at the national, regional or international levels on women’s human rights and development.
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Social or political Science
• Previous proven experience in finance, particularly including any sub-grants/re-granting experience.
• Project management skills including programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is an asset.
• Knowledge of the financial accounting software as MYOB, ABSS, Quickbook and/or other financial tools, and generating financial reports is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
• Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.
• Strong coordination/teamwork skills both within and across teams.
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders.
• Proficient computer skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite.
• Must be able to travel overseas as required.
• Must be able and willing to relocate and work from Chiang Mai Office, Thailand.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support for APWLD’s sub-grants management work.
• Administer the sub-grants database, including the yearly and periodic matrixes.
• Assist the Grants Manager in providing holistic guidance to the Secretariat programme teams on sub-grant management.
• Work closely with the Grants Manager in supporting the sub-grants agreement process.
• Provide necessary support to sub-grant partners in coordination with APWLD’s Finance Team and programme staff.
• Verify the financial reports of the sub-grant partners in coordination with APWLD’s Finance Team.
• May visit sub-grant partners to provide capacity building and support on accountability measures.
• Liaise with sub-grant partners identifying institutional capacity needs of partners for long term sustainability.
• Provide support to the Grants Manager in monitoring and track the submission of report deliverables as outlined in sub-grant agreements and follow-up with programme staff on untimely or outstanding submissions.
• Work closely with Grants Manager, Deputy Regional Coordinator, Regional Coordinator and other Secretariat staff.
• Performs any other tasks that may be assigned to her by the Grants Manager, Regional Coordinator and/or Deputy Regional Coordinator.

Remuneration & Compensation

• Salary range commences at THB 41,400 (USD1,200 at a fixed rate of THB 34.50) per month. Other benefits include health allowance and insurance; contributions to the employee provident fund, Thai Social Security Fund and 13th month salary.
• This is a full-time position with a two-year (renewable) contract; and a probationary period of four months applies.
• The staff member will be required to work from the APWLD office in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Relocation support (including monthly housing allowance and airfare where applicable) will be provided to applicants who relocate to Chiang Mai from outside of Thailand.
