The Coffey Evaluation & Research practice, previously known as TEP, specialises in the systematic evaluation, monitoring and impact assessment of public policies, programmes, regulations and other interventions across a wide range of policy areas for the European Union and UK clients. The role Reporting to the Principal Consultant, the main objective of the Survey Specialist is to provide expertise to our survey-related activities which play a crucial part in the majority of evaluations in which we are involved. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the design and implementation of surveys
  • Program and test check survey functionalities, look and data outputs
  • Monitor and manage live surveys, ensuring any inconsistencies or issues are picked up on early
  • Provide partial survey data to team leader / clients as needed
  • Analyse data and prepare top line findings through statistical packages including Excel, SPSS and STATA
  • Help to ensure the high quality of all survey outputs through constant review of survey building processes and methodologies
  • Assist with leading evaluations assignments to ensure the delivery of high quality deliverables
The person We look forward to receiving applications from candidates who have a minimum Bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution. The ideal candidate would have to demonstrate survey expertise with proven experience of key statistics programmes (e.g. SPSS or STATA) as well as analytical abilities and consultancy skills. With strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and survey scripting experience, the right candidate will have a high level of experience of data analysis and manipulation using MS Excel. Most importantly, evidence of applying different quantitative research techniques, from the collection of primary data (survey design and implementation) to the management and analysis of large datasets on Excel and SPSS, will be crucial to your success, as well as your ability to carry out independently and with minimal supervision sophisticated quantitative analysis including econometric modelling. Proven expertise in qualitative research techniques, including interviewing stakeholders, coordinating workshops and facilitating focus groups, would also be an asset but is not essential.
