Abt Associates Inc. (Abt) seeks a qualified Tax Manager to support the Accounting Department in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This role is responsible for managing U.S. and foreign tax compliance for Abt’s U.S. and foreign entities, assisting with global income tax reporting and ensuring all entities remain compliant with U.S. and international tax rules and regulations.

The primary focus is to support the Tax Department to ensure timely and accurate completion of the Company’s U.S. and International tax filings and related tax accounting. The Tax Manager is actively involved in the preparation of U.S. Federal and state & local income/franchise tax returns, personal property tax returns, sales & use tax returns as well as international tax returns. In addition, the Tax Manager will assist with other domestic and international tax filings, as needed, including coordinating with internal departments and outside service providers.

Key Roles and Responsibilites

  • Manage the preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state & local tax returns
  • Manage the Company’s outside tax advisors in the preparation and filing of international tax returns
  • Assist in federal, state & local and international tax audits
  • Coordinate tax matters on cross-functional initiatives with other departments, locations and business units to ensure proper compliance
  • Perform federal, state & local and international tax research
  • Assist in responding to all domestic and international tax notices
  • Manage preparation of foreign reporting for U.S. consolidated income tax return, including Form 5471 and Form 8858
  • Provide domestic and international tax support to the bid and proposal teams and divisions
  • Manage federal, state & local and international tax matters including the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, transfer pricing calculations, tax planning and international office set-up
  • Manage the preparation of the Company’s quarterly an annual tax provision work papers in accordance with ASC 740 for Abt’s U.S. consolidated statutory audited financial statements
  • Manage foreign tax provisions and tax account reconciliations for local statutory audited financial statements
  • Assist with preparation of global income tax rate forecast
  • Participate in the preparation of domestic and international statutory audited financial statements
  • Assist the Senior Manager, Tax with the Company’s expat program including working with outside tax preparers as well as assisting the Human Resource Department with tax related issues as they arise
  • Participate in special projects as required

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Federal, state & local and international tax experience
  • Must have knowledge of tax rules and regulations
  • Proficient with ASC 740 and experience preparing/reviewing tax provisions for multinational companies

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of tax experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA and/or MST preferred
