Job Description

Creative Associates International is hiring a Teacher Training and Active Learning Expert for the anticipated IDB Suriname Curriculum Development in Lower Secondary Education project. 

The goal of this project is to modernize the curriculum for Lower Secondary Education grades 9-12 of the General Secondary Education (AVO). The project will focus on reviewing an devaluating the current curriculum for grades 9-12; updating the curriculum, learning materials, and training of MOESC staff; and developing teacher training modules for master trainers. 

Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: At least five years of documented experience in conducting teacher training and hands-on, “learning-by-doing” programs to build capacity among curriculum developers, assessment specialists, and educators.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Expertise in designing and delivering teacher training programs.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles (Andragogy) and teacher mentoring/coaching strategies.
    • Knowledge of learning theories (e.g., Bloom’s Taxonomy, Vygotsky’s Constructivism, Kolb’s Experiential Learning).
    • Ability to align teacher training with national and international education standards.
    • Proficiency in developing lesson plans, instructional guides, and pedagogical toolkits.
  • Specialized Experience:
    • Experience in capacity building for educators, school leaders, and teacher trainers / Master trainers.
    • Demonstrated experience in training teachers in learner-centered, competency-based instruction and pedagogical innovation.
    • Experience with integrating 21st-century skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity) into teaching strategies.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.
