Overview

Scope of Work (SOW)

Background

The purpose of the USAID Expanding Water and Sanitation Project (USAID Expanding WASH) is to professionalize water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, to promote accountability for reliable and high-quality WASH services, and to enhance the enabling environment for private sector engagement (PSE) in service delivery in Zambia. This project will incorporate a series of interventions that support and strengthen sector governance and enhance public-private partnerships for improved WASH service delivery in a manner that: i) institutionalizes market-based WASH service delivery through financially sustainable and inclusive management models; ii) increases accountability of WASH service providers, policymakers, and civic leaders; iii) supports policy and regulatory reform; and iv) increases private sector participation. These interventions will provide increased access to safe water, improved sanitation, and enhance the capacity of Zambian government, private sector, and civil society organizations.

Purpose of the Assignment

The USAID Expanding WASH has 24 staff - 14 staff based out of the Lusaka office and 10 staff based in field offices. The project is in its second year of implementation with several staff having started within the last year. In order to achieve the overall project aims, it is important for the team to work within a cohesive and conducive environment that fosters team morale. Therefore, the project is looking to hold one day team building retreat that will use engagement and motivation methodologies to strengthen team communications and effectiveness, facilitate knowledge sharing and partnerships across the USAID Expanding WASH project.


Responsibilities

Specific Tasks/Planned Activities

Design and facilitate a one-day retreat program that will:

    1. Strengthen relationship/team work
    2. Improve work effectiveness and morale, and
    3. Improve internal communications

Final Report that will include all activities completed during the retreat, contain photos of the team during activities, and contain an action plan for the team to implement to strengthen overall team work once the retreat is over.

Expected Deliverables (outputs):

  1. Draft proposal with retreat agenda
  2. Final proposal of retreat agenda
  3. Facilitated retreat with team building activities
  4. Draft report – including documented discussion of the retreat
  5. Final report – including all activities, photos, action plan, and overall team recommendations.

Total Fixed Price Amount

All work must be completed within this timeframe. The Independent Contractor shall request any modifications or extensions from RTII in advance for review and discussion.

Terms & Conditions:

Working Arrangements: The Consultant will perform most of the work in their home with the exception of the retreat

facilitation, and thus shall be required to work with the team via video chat software such as Zoom, Teams, or Skype using his/her own equipment.

Estimated Start Date: Period of Performance: September 11 – October 13, 2023

Locations: Lusaka

Travel and Logistics

No travel is envisioned for the facilitator of the team retreat in Lusaka. The USAID Expanding WASH project will directly pay for any venue costs assuming there is a competitive process.

RTII Point of Contacts:

The Independent Contractor will work closely with the Chief of Party (COP). The COP will serve as the primary point of contact, Invoices and supporting documentation should be submitted to the Finance and Operations Director.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7-year experience in design and organize management training with expertise in corporate team building and leadership management.
  • Experience working with multi-national organizations, business companies, and donor community such as USAID.
  • Evidence of past events managed.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in performing assigned tasks.
