About the project

The Kyrgyz Republic is in a seismically active area with highly variable weather patterns and is at a high risk of the impacts of geophysical disasters and climate change. Disasters triggered by natural hazards such as landslides and earthquakes are frequent and estimated to cost the country approximately 1%–1.5% of the gross domestic product annually. The ADB is preparing a transactional technical assistance (TRTA) to develop and prepare a proposed investment project reduce the risks of landslide events in the Kyrgyz Republic. The project will take a comprehensive approach combining structural (including civil works and equipment) and non-structural (including disaster risk financing and insurance, training, strategy, and policy) interventions.

About the role

Based in Bishkek, the Team Leader will lead the consultant team, manage relationships with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Finance in Kyrgyzstan, local administrations, the ADB, and other stakeholders and coordinate all inputs and outputs.

Required experience

  • You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in preparing and designing similar projects in disaster risk management or related fields
  • You will need at least 5 years’ experience in a similar team leadership role
  • Experience in Kyrgyzstan or the region would be preferred.
