For an upcoming DFID funded programme in Nepal, Mott MacDonald is looking for a Team Leader.
About the programme
The contract is expected to start in March 2020 and last for 7 years. Nepal in Business (NIB) will help create and sustain at least 25,000 formal jobs in Nepal by helping firms to grow, become more productive and take part in domestic and global value chains. The project will:
i. Catalyze economic transformation and job creation in key sectors.
ii. Improve the capabilities of SMEs, linking them with domestic and international partners (primarily India and China), leveraging the Nepali diaspora and improving access to finance to enable them to take promising ideas to scale and to strengthen their role in the economy.
iii. Work in collaboration with the private sector and the federal and provincial Government to improve sectoral constraints for SMEs.
iv. Generate evidence and learning on accelerating private sector development in low income countries like Nepal.
About the role
The Team Leader will report to the Project Director and will be responsible for successful delivery of the programme, including:
* Developing and communicating a clear strategic vision, direction and approach for the project
* Ensuring successful and effective implementation of the project vision, direction and approach
* Influencing and communicating with senior government and private sector leaders for successful project delivery
* Building the team, clarifying their roles and responsibilities and providing them with guidance and support for effectively achieving project results
* Effectively managing the team
* Assurance that KPI’s are met
* Stakeholder management, engagement with the Government and donors
Requirements
* Demonstrated experience of leading large, complex private sector development projects for DFID
* Strong team builder and leader of multi-disciplinary teams
* At least a masters degree in Economics, Business, Development or similar field
* Track record of successfully delivering results for the SMEs
* Demonstrated experience of influencing and communicating with senior political, government and business leaders
* Robust understanding of market development approaches for DFID projects
* Strong regional and country experience
* Excellent relationship builder with governments, civil society and donors
* Fluent in English and Nepali
* Great communication skills
