The CATALYZE Malawi Project (2025–2028), implemented by UNDP, aims to drive Malawi’s green transition, promote entrepreneurship, and unlock innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Within this framework, the project’s communications strategy plays a key role in enhancing visibility, fostering stakeholder engagement, and showcasing the results and impact of flagship initiatives such as Zantchito, Growth Accelerator, GETF, and the BUILD Fund.
The proposed team will provide comprehensive communications, media, and visibility services throughout the duration of the Long-Term Agreement, with an estimated total of 684 working days over a three-year period.
1. Communications Strategist-Team Lead
• At least master’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or media management, preferably in an international development or private sector context.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing communication teams and coordinating with high-level stakeholders, including government, donors, and international organizations.
• Solid experience in managing complex summits, workshops and various international events.
• Demonstration of creative thinking, and development of innovative and cutting-edge approaches to communications for development practices in line with the requirement under CATALYZE Malawi.
• Expertise in crafting compelling content, including press releases, speeches, blogs, and campaignmaterials tailored to diverse audiences.
• Proven track record in managing media relations and organizing high-profile events such assummits, conferences, or project launches.
• Familiarity with government protocols for engaging high level officials.
• Advanced knowledge of digital communication platforms, including social media management tools, website content management systems
• Familiarity with the social, economic, and cultural context of Malawi
2. Graphic Design and Content Creation Officer
• At least 3-5 years of experience in virtual reality (VR), graphic design, content creation, or digital marketing, preferably working on projects or campaigns for development organizations or the private sector.
• Proven ability to create engaging and professional visual content, including infographics, brochures, social media assets, and reports.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of social media content creation and platform-specific requirements (e.g., forInstagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter).
• Experience with video editing software and multimedia production tools.
• Basic web design or familiarity with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress.
• Submission of a portfolio showcasing past work, particularly in creating branded visuals, social media campaigns, and multimedia content.
• Certification or training in motion graphics, animation, or advanced video editing would be an advantage.
• Experience in designing materials for community-level engagement, such as posters, brochures, and radio/TV visuals.
• Ability to create content that resonates with diverse audiences, including grassroots communities, donors, and government stakeholders.
• Experience creating compelling data visualizations or infographics to communicate complex information effectively.
• Proficiency in photography, including basic photo editing skills, and the ability to shoot and edit videos for storytelling purposes.
• Familiarity with local languages in Malawi would be an added advantage for creating culturally relevant and inclusive content.
3. Digital Marketing Officer
• At least bachelor’s degree in marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, including managing campaigns for social media, websites, and email marketing platforms.
• Proven experience in providing creative, and innovative digital marketing approaches.
• Proven track record of driving engagement and growth through digital marketing strategies.
• Expertise in social media management tools.
• Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) principles.
• Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google analytics to monitor performance metrics and generate insights.
• Experience in writing persuasive and innovative content, developing content calendars, and producing multimedia assets (e.g., videos, graphics) in collaboration with designers.
• Familiarity with working in international development or private-sector growth projects.
• Ability to blend creative storytelling with data-driven marketing approaches.
• Knowledge of local languages in Malawi would be an asset to crafting campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences.
• Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
4. Media Relations Officer
• At least bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism, preferably in an international development or corporate setting.
• Proven track record of successfully coordinating media coverage, and press events, and managing relationships with media outlets and journalists.
• Experience preparing high-quality press materials such as media briefing packs, press releases, and fact sheets.
• Strong knowledge of local, regional, and international media landscapes.
• Experience building and maintaining a media database, coordinating with journalists, and fostering long-term relationships with key media stakeholders.
• Ability to manage crisis communication and craft clear, concise messaging for sensitive issues.
• Demonstrated expertise in coordinating media coverage for events, including press conferences, launches, and summits.
• Experience managing live coverage, photography, and post-event reporting to ensure consistent messaging and visibility.
• Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including journalists, government representatives, and international donors.
• Experience in video production and photography to support media stories.
• Ability to produce post-event media reports that evaluate coverage impact, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for future engagement.
