For more than 25 years, CRDF Global has implemented programs in emerging markets and developing countries to improve our world. We partner with international government agencies, industry, academia, and non-government organizations to develop solutions to improve global health security. Our projects strengthen international global health safety and security culture by enhancing risk management practices, improving in-country detection and response capabilities, securing facilities, and encouraging collaborative partnerships to reduce risk.
The mission of the HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is to promote the health and quality of life of people by preventing and controlling disease, injury and disability; and to protect Americans both domestic and abroad, by shielding them from health threats via international prevention, detection and response networks. CDC through its Center for Global Health (CGH) is in a unique position to bring its scientific expertise and credibility to advance the global initiatives of the United States Government (USG) to save lives, reduce suffering, and support the health and dignity of people around the world. In international settings CDC primarily works in developing countries and is currently functioning in an estimated 84 countries with over 502 assignees and adding other countries as required.
Much of CDCs work is focused on enhancing essential public health functions, building host country public health capacity and infrastructure (prevention, care, treatment, surveillance, laboratory, and response systems); and assisting the planning and implementation of sustainable programs and collaborations that contribute to reductions in global morbidity and mortality.
In certain circumstances CDC has a need for additional study or project support in the form of utilizing a mechanism that recruits and employs individuals who have the skills to meet the needs of CDC’s efforts overseas. The sheer size of task mandates (geographic distribution, requirements for rapid scale up and implementation), caused by diseases, funding parameters, a lack of capacity in the host country workforce, and requirements for highly specialized technical areas, are just a few of the reasons CDC requires short and long term support (minimum six months up to 60 months) from the International Technical Operational and Support Services (ITOPSS) contract mechanism.
CRDF Global is seeking an experienced and results-driven Technical Advisor for Laboratory for the anticipated International Technical Operational and Support Services (ITOPSS) 4.0 IDIQ with the CDC. The Technical Advisor for Laboratory will report to the CDC Senior Program Manager and ensure direct delivery implementation of task orders to support global health initiatives in partnership with key stakeholders.
