OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Coordinate and provide technical assistance for WHO supported nutrition related activities to the Ministry of Health and other implementing partners with specific emphasis to strengthen, both health facility-based and community-based nutrition information integrated into the national health management information systems.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will be expected to:
• Provide technical support for the development of a national action plan for strengthening and harmonizing the national nutrition information system;
• Oversee the effective coordination/integration of the nutrition program into the national health information system (DHIS2);
• Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health for the implementation of the action plan for improving the quality and availability of routine data for nutritional surveillance;
• Coordinate development of the implementation plan and standard operating procedures for the EU-funded project in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and The United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Country Office;
• Develop locally relevant tools and lead capacity-building for those involved in routine nutrition data collection and decision makers responsible for nutrition policies and programmes;
• Monitor and evaluate implementation of activities to strengthen the national nutrition information system;
• Provide regular progress report on the implementation status of the nutrition activities and more especially linked to the Strengthening Nutrition Information System project.
• Coordinate with the UNICEF counterpart and project management team at the WHO regional and HQ levels to ensure smooth running of the project activities; and
• Prepare regular project reports for the donor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in information systems or public health.
Desirable: Advanced university degree (master’s level or higher) training in health information, epidemiology or other relevant field.
Experience
Essential: At least two years’ experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and supervision of health information stems (e.g. DHIS2 or other health management information systems), surveillance or other relevant programme activities.
Desirable: Previous work experience in management of health information system, specifically DHIS2. Experience in working with bilateral or multilateral organizations at country level.
Skills
Proven competence in information systems; Good knowledge in nutrition programmes; Excellent knowledge and demonstrated ability to write technical reports; ability to motivate and guide development of capacity at national level; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships as part of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 27,013 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
