Job Description
The Thought Leadership Manager will oversee PYXERA Global’s portfolio of thought leadership activity across external speaking engagements/events, and earned media, within the context of an integrated communications plan. The manager will report into and work in collaboration with Senior Director of Communications to contribute to the overall strategy and implement specific activities in service of PYXERA Global programmatic and mission objectives. Responsibilities include:
- External Events
- Co-develop the portfolio of external events where PYXERA Global executives and staff will seek to be present.
- Pitch and secure new speaking engagements; respond to roster of incoming speaking opportunities.
- Managing relationships with key organizations and event partners.
- Provide support and periodic development for earned engagements.
- Global Engagement Forum Live
- Media Relations
- Manage relationships with key journalists, editors, and book publishers.
- Pitch new and relevant stories and trends to advance PYXERA Global mission.
- Write and edit articles for external publication.
- Amplification
- Work closely with social media and communications team to appropriately amplify thought leadership activities.
- Maintain an ‘editorial calendar’ for the platform to inform internal and external parties of thought leadership activity, and leverage appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience and qualifications:
- Experience: 4 – 7 years’ experience in communications, public relations, event management, and/or marketing.
- Innovation: Innovative thinker who can think strategically and has attention to the details.
- Writing: A professional writer who produces clear and compelling press materials and briefs.
- External events and media relations: Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with media and event partners, and in successfully positioning subject matter to achieve national and/or industry specific recognition.
- Project management and leadership:
- Excellent organization, communication and collaboration skills.
- A team player, who can both lead and be led.
- Ability to manage diverse activities, meet deadlines, and flexibility to changing situations and priorities.
- Event management and production: An experienced event manager with the ability to envision / imagine events that create unique and compelling stakeholder experiences, while “sweating the small stuff” – the details.
- Integration: An understanding of how to integrate thought leadership content with digital platforms and rich media content across practice areas.
- Knowledge: Experience in shared value, sustainability and/or international development a plus; experience in business, fundraising, or sales also a plus.
