The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Italy, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Turkey (IGMCT) Unit of the Institutional Mandate Relationship Southern Europe Division, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, Trainee - Institutional Mandate Relationship Southern Europe.
Duration: 5 months
Starting date: 16 January 2025
Specific Post Environment:
The Trainee will be part of the Institutional Mandate Relationship Southern Europe Division (MORE SEE), in the Mandate Origination & Relationship Management Department within the Investment Office. The MORE SEE division plays a pivotal role in identifying, structuring, and maintaining strategic relationships with external investors, in both the public and private sector. As the market for alternative investments evolves, there is a growing need to enhance our capacity to analyse market trends, regulatory barriers, and internal processes to better serve institutional partners.
Overall objective:
Your overall objective will be to:
- Conduct comprehensive market analyses and regulatory research to identify prospective investors.
- Optimize and enhance internal procedures for onboarding new clients.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the senior of the team, you shall:
- Analyse regulatory barriers that impact institutional investors capacity to allocate capital to alternative investments.
- Recommend and contribute to the implementation of improvements to internal onboarding processes.
- Prepare presentations and briefing notes for internal and external meetings.
Expected outcome:
- Produce detailed market analyses focused on fundraising opportunities within the units geographical scope.
- Develop proposals aimed at refining internal processes and client onboarding strategies.
- Provide administrative support, including the creation of briefing notes, presentations, templates, and preliminary assessments for new mandates or institutional partners.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Awareness of the European Investment Funds mission and core products.
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge in EU Private Equity and Venture Capital topics.
- Skills in market data analysis are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks at both EU and national levels.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and research complex topics, effectively synthesizing information from multiple sources.
- Outstanding communication skills in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in Italian or Greek is considered a plus.
- Proven experience in drafting comprehensive reports, briefing documents, and professional presentations.
- Capable of working autonomously as well as contributing effectively within a team setting.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
