Objective of the traineeship

The Cleantech division provides venture debt financing to climate action-oriented projects and technologies with a focus on innovative infrastructure projects that transform the energy system, support new low-carbon transportation modes, decarbonize energy-intensive industries or support the bio and circular economy. Thanks to the deployment of our finance products (venture debt) we help projects to overcome the investment hurdles that they encounter during the (commercial) roll-out and scaling of their innovative solutions. Support of the energy/ecological transition is at the top of EIB’s (climate) agenda and much needed by society.

You will support the division’s business development activities and occasionally support the Investment Officers of the division, gaining exposure to the project cycle and assist in the deployment of finance products.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit(s) and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare pitches and other marketing materials (division strategy, product presentation…).
  • Contribute to the development and management of management information system (leads, eligibility checks, approval processes…).
  • Actively participate in the development of new initiatives/products under the supervision of Investment Officers, Head of Unit or Head of Division.
  • Occasionally support Investment Officers in the origination / appraisal / negotiation / monitoring of their projects and associated tasks.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Economics/Finance/Engineering or related fields.
  • A first experience in finance (equity, project finance) and/or infrastructure (energy, transport, bio/circular economy) will be considered as an advantage.
  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
