The role
We are currently seeking for a “Tunnel Design Engineer” to be based in Dhaka City under Dhaka MRT Development project.
Inputs: 15 Man months
Location: Dhaka City, Bangladesh
Funding Donor: Asia Development Bank (ADB)
Main/Primary Responsibility: The Consultant shall design and propose construction methods for the tunnel sections based on geological data, groundwater data and topographical data to ensure the structures to be able to withstand the pressure of soil and groundwater.
Key Responsibilities
- Shall calculate and design of the tunnel structure;
- Shall calculate and design of the statics loads;
- Shall do geotechnical design;
- Shall design layout solutions for tunnel construction;
- Shall calculate the geometric dimensions of the boreholes and shaft at beginning and the end of TBM and the end of the excavation section
- Shall assess of the tunnel construction impact on the surrounding infrastructure, utilities, objects, buildings, vibration-sensitive equipment;
- Shall produce drawings, in accordance with requirements in Annex 3, showing:
- tunnel, including rails, drainage systems, emergency exit;
- neighboring infrastructure, utilities, buildings;
- integration interface between structures and systems;
- connection tunnel between two main TBM and tunnel;
- dewatering pumps; and
- geometric dimensions and structure of the start point, finish point of tunnel structure.
- Shall communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, applicants and Hiring Managers/Stakeholders regarding all matters pertaining to the recruitment and selection of future/employees
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- He/she has BSc in Civil Engineering; Candidate with Masters is of high preference
- He/she has 20++ years of experience in the relevant field
- He/she has an experience in similar position for at least 1 railway/metro design & planning project funded by ADB/WB/JICA
- He/she is an international candidate with overseas experience in rail and metro projects SAARC and ASEAN
