Job Description

UN Partnerships Manager

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In recent years, OGB has adopted an ambitious new resource mobilisation strategy that seeks to grow its income by more than 10% by 2020. In leveraging greater impact through more strategic donor partnerships, one of the key pillars of this new strategy is to increase investment in mobilising resources for humanitarian programmes.
To achieve our vision, OGB’s Strategic Partnerships Team proactively manages and facilitates a growing partnership development network with a range of donors to generate a more sustainable and diversified income base for Oxfam’s international programmes.
In particular, our goal is to develop a our institutional donor funding across the core thematic areas of Women (Gender Justice), Water (Governance and Infrastructure), Work (Economic Justice) and Inequality (Tax justice) across humanitarian, development, and advocacy programmes, in line with Oxfam overarching strategic goals and ambitions.
We expect the incumbent to be both a ‘doer’ and a strategic thinker – someone who is able to operate in a variety of contexts: creating momentum for internal projects, hitting the ground running to deliver an emergency response, developing longer term donor strategies, and providing donor-related capacity building support to colleagues in country and regional offices and partner organisations. The incumbent must be a creative problem solver, a diplomat and a representative, a capacity builder, and a knowledge repository of donor information.

JOB PURPOSE

In coordination and collaboration with the relevant Oxfam International account managers, the OGB UN Partnership Manager will lead OGB’s strategic engagement with the UN donor agencies on both humanitarian and long-term development cooperation, with a strong emphasis on the former, from where the majority of Oxfam’s income from UN agencies is drawn.
To achieve our ambitions, the Partnership Development Manager will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining and implementing the UN donor portfolio strategy, forging strategic partnerships between OGB and the governments covered in the portfolio. In continuously forging new funding opportunities, the incumbent will be expected to work within OGB as well as across the confederation of Oxfam affiliates in delivering the donor portfolio strategy.
Liaising with the relevant Oxfam International (OI) Donor Account Managers as well as other affiliate donor leads, the OGB Donor Partnership Manager is expected to coordinate effectively throughout, proactively engaging in relevant mechanisms (including for example the relevant Centres of Expertise) to jointly ensure that the Oxfam confederation is joined up and coherent in its approaches to the respective donors.
The incumbent is also expected to work in close collaboration with Oxfam country programmes to develop engagement and partnerships at this level. This includes engaging and collaborating with country leadership and implementing teams to develop relevant new business and programme funding opportunities.
The UN Partnerships Manager will be based in Oxford, and will involve regular travel to UN donor agency HQs as well as some travel to country programmes.
