ABOUT US
HIAS (originally the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) was founded in New York City over a century ago to support Jews fleeing persecution and poverty in Eastern Europe. Rooted in Jewish values, texts, and history—marked by oppression, displacement, and diaspora—HIAS has supported generations of Jews facing violence. Today, HIAS serves refugees of all backgrounds, guided by its founding principles, and operates across five continents to deliver the vital services needed for refugees to thrive.
HIAS is a learning organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We conduct our work with integrity, accountability, and transparency, and uphold the highest ethical standards. We seek individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to join our teams. Individuals who identify as BIPOC, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those with lived experiences of displacement or migration are especially encouraged to apply.
