Overview
Global Communities is implementing the OFDA-funded Integrated Modalities to Promote Agricultural, Cash-for-Work & Training project (IMPACT) in Yemen.
Global Communities is seeking a WASH consultant to support our Yemen field staff in the development of WASH Country Strategy. The consultant will be responsible to prepare and review Cash for Work WASH projects “Bill of Quantities (BoQ),” including technical drawings, to be reviewed and approved by the donor. The consultant will also support the development of a Yemen WASH strategy, lead trainings for WASH project staff, conduct technical water tests for WASH water network projects, provide support for WASH activities, and conduct WASH assessment in order to see the overall Global Communities outreach, community needs, gaps, and propose future strategy.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Support GC Yemen team and design the WASH strategy in Yemen.
* Review WASH projects’ Cash for Work BOQs and technical drawings and provide technical input to the field team when needed for the new impact project.
* In close coordination with the field program staff, follow-up on WASH program activities to ensure that activities are implemented in accordance with donor-approved proposal, requirements and budget.
* Organize and deliver capacity building training for IMPACT WASH staff on:
+ Water distribution networks and modeling
+ Management of WASH projects
+ Design of wastewater networks
+ Project management for WASH projects including project cycle management and log frame developments (indicators, outputs, and results.)
+ Technical writing and reporting
* Coordinate with HQ and Yemen field teams to address WASH-related questions received from the donor.
* Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation team in reporting and revising and development of the M&E project framework and plans. Following up with the M&E team to respond to donor requirements and reporting.
Deliverables for this consultancy includes:
* Conduct Stakeholders Workshops for Yemen WASH Strategy in Sana’a and Aden.
* Write and finalize the Yemen WASH strategy for Global Communities.
* Conduct Water Testing for CFW WASH Projects (Follow-up of CFW WASH Projects under CREATE in Al Dhale and new CFW WASH Projects under IMPACT Yemen).
* Prepare a brief report of water testing in Al Dhale governorate rehabilitated under CREATE Yemen.
* Conduct two trainings and prepare relevant technical materials for WASH staff.
* Review Cash for Work WASH, Irrigation and Non-Irrigation Bill of Quantities (BoQs) under IMAPCT Yemen.
* Respond to all technical donor queries related with Cash for Work WASH Projects BoQs.
* Conduct an assessment in Yemen in order to see how Global Communities is contribution to Community WASH needs, find out the gaps, and propose best possible solutions keeping in view HNO/HRP 2019.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
* At least 10 years of experience in WASH Sector.
* Ability to prioritize and work to strict deadlines.
* Fluency in writing English.
