POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Zamboanga City, Philippines
The Zamboanga Program Coordinator is responsible for harmonizing the project implementation in Zamboanga City, with all technical, administrative, and financial management deliverables pertaining to the project implementation in this area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the NCS Director, s/he will lead the coordination of the project activities, facilitate partnerships, provide administrative support, and building capacity of partners to enhance urban climate resilience in Zamboanga. Specifically, s/he will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Acting as the team lead for the project in Zamboanga, provide guidance, direction, and support to project staff and consortium partners to achieve project objectives as outlined in the detailed implementation plan.
- Project Implementation: Provide technical and operational guidance to the City Technical Working Group (TWG) and project staff, ensuring effective implementation of project activities in Zamboanga.
- Ensure accountability by coordinating project evaluation activities and aiding consortium partners in data collection and analysis using specified mechanisms and tools.
- Collaborate with LGUs and consortium partners to prepare reports according to established schedules.
- Provide technical and operational support in conceptualizing, preparing, and delivering capacity-building workshops and project reports for the city.
- Complete project documentation for assigned activities and assist in identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
- Networking and Partnership: Initiate and nurture partnerships with communities, local government units, and service providers. Facilitate coordination meetings with stakeholders to mobilize resources and ensure active participation. Actively participate in network and partnership meetings to facilitate collaboration, learning, and sharing opportunities with relevant stakeholders.
- Logistics and Administrative Support: Manage administrative tasks such as preparing purchase requests, vehicle requests, cash advances, and liquidation reports to ensure smooth project operations.
- Capacity Building: Identify training needs and conduct capacity-building activities for program partners.
- Program Communications: Together with the outcome activity lead, develop communication materials, and support program learning events.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Fieldwork will involve extended stays onsite, often outdoors.
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours to meet project deadlines.
- Will engage with various stakeholders, from national, municipal, barangay, Indigenous peoples, and local communities.
- Guidance on flexible work arrangements will be shared during the interview process.
- This is a fixed-term assignment “anticipated to begin on April 16, 2024, and end on September 30, 2026”.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2 to 4 years of development work experience involving close interactions with LGUs and NGOs specifically in project management, climate change, conservation, and environment.
- Excellent consultation, facilitation, research, and presentation skills.
- Computer literate and has experience writing reports.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job, preferably in conservation, environmental science, social science, or related fields.
