The Asian Development Bank is set to invest USD242 million in Pakistan’s energy sector in a bid to improve the country’s power distribution system.
The investment will be used to add more than 300 kilometers of distribution lines and 3,380 megavolts-amperes of transformer capacity to Pakistan’s national power system, The Nation reports.
The loan is part of the USD810 million Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program that ADB approved in 2008. This program aims to help reduce losses and improve the reliability of Pakistan’s power distribution system.
