The Asian Development Bank is lending USD350 million to promote “improved financial and economic management at all levels of government” in Indonesia. The Local Government and Finance and Governance Reform Program “will generate significant benefits for the financing and delivery of local services, and in the development of badly-needed capacity,” Arjun Thapan, director general of ADB’s Southeast Asia department, said. “ADB believes that in pursuing these reforms, Indonesia is creating a solid base for growth.” (“ADB Pledges Further USD350 Million Loan To Help Indonesia Government Reform” - Dow Jones, Dec. 4, 2008)
