Joji Tokeshi, a Japanese economist, is the new head of the Asian Development Bank’s country office in Tajikistan.
Tokeshi will be responsible for overseeing and managing ADB’s development assistance program in Tajikistan, which will total some USD252 million over the next three years under the country and the bank’s latest partnership strategy. He will also be in charge of overseeing the implementation of the bank’s ongoing portfolio in the Central Asian nation, which focuses on trade, transport, agriculture and energy development.
Tokeshi has served as deputy head of ADB’s resident mission in Tajikistan since 2009. Prior to this assignment, he held similar leadership positions in the bank’s missions in Afghanistan, China, the Philippines, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan.
