The African Development Bank committed 20 billion CFA franc ($38 million) to shore up Benin’s health sector. The package will support two initiatives: one aims to improve access to health care and promote traditional medicine, and the other to boost the fight against HIV/AIDS. Official figures indicate that the HIV prevalence rate in the country has dropped from 4.1 percent in 2001 to 2.1 percent last year. (Source: ADB props Benin health sector/AngolaPress)
