The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa is lending Zambia $6.8 million to enable the latter to rehabilitate water treatment facilities in six districts. The project involves the reconditioning of 19 sand filters, installation of 38 pumps and distribution pipes, construction of 19 water reservoirs and booster pumping sections, and renovation of water connections to 11,378 households. The finance ministry expects the project to improve the supply of safe drinking water and encourage households to engage in poverty reduction activities.
