    Australia and the Asian Development Bank have pledged to help Vietnam protect its flood-prone and low-lying Mekong Delta region from potential climate change effects. The two donors will provide a

    , with USD800,000 coming from Australia and USD500,000 drawn from ADB's Climate Change Fund. The money will be used to assess potential risks to the Mekong region and to identify the necessary measures to mitigate these risks. Vietnam's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will execute the project.
