Australia issued A$136 million ($102 million) to boost the global debt relief efforts. “Today we made that payment to the World Bank, which covers 10-years of debt forgiveness,” Federal Treasurer Peter Costello said during a business lunch in Johannesburg. The country is part of a small group of countries that have made such a donation to write off debts owed by the world’s poorest nations to the World Bank.
