Johannes Kiess is a senior program officer on the development policy and finance team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Previously, he was an operations officer at the World Bank and team leader for the Open Aid Partnership. As an economist at the World Bank and consultant to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, he advised on multilateral and innovative finance for development. Kiess holds a doctorate in economics from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
