Ma. Estrella Penunia is secretary general of the Asian Farmers’ Association, a regional alliance of national farmers' organizations. As a Filipino-Asian social development worker, Penunia spent her professional years in rural development, working with the farmers, fishers, and indigenous peoples' sectors, and in various capacities including as a community organizer and participatory action researcher.
